UK fuel price averages

Official weekly government averages for the national picture, plus live station averages from Fuel Finder for today. Two different measures — both useful, both labelled clearly.

Official weekly UK averages UK only · DESNZ

Department for Energy Security and Net Zero weekly road fuel prices (ULSP unleaded petrol and ULSD diesel). The official CSV is UK-wide only — there is no regional weekly series in that file — so this chart stays national. These are statistical weekly averages, not live forecourt prices.

Live averages by area

Calculated in your browser from live Fuel Finder station prices on TankTicker (same rules as /averages/). These regional graphs are live station means, not official weekly government stats — DESNZ does not publish a matching regional weekly series in the file we use.

How to read these figures
  • Weekly government averages are official DESNZ statistics for the UK as a whole, one figure per week. Good for headlines and trends. They are not today’s pump price at a specific station.
  • Live TankTicker averages are a simple mean of stations currently reporting to Fuel Finder. Use the area dropdown for regional headlines and charts. Good for “what’s the average right now” — not a week-on-week official series.
  • Regions use each station’s postcode area, so a few stations near borders may fall in a neighbouring region. Averages are not sales-weighted. Temporarily closed stations are left out.
  • Journalists: see the draft press / publishers page for copy-ready lines, JSON/CSV, and an embed card.
